Vol. 3 No. 7

[WRITTEN ANSWERS.] - COMMANDEERING OF DWELLING.

asked the Minister for Defence if he is aware that the dwellinghouse of Mr. Jeremiah Cronin, of Barraduff, Headford, Killarney, was commandeered by National Troops some time ago; that Mr. Cronin and his wife and children are compelled to obtain lodging in a local farmer's house; whether considerable damage has been done to the house owing to its occupation by the military; whether the Minister can say how soon the military will vacate this house, and whether the question of compensation to Mr. Cronin has yet been considered.

The house of Mr. Jeremiah Cronin, of Barraduff, Killarney, was taken over by troops as a military necessity, and it has been damaged during attacks made on it while occupied by troops. The house cannot be surrendered at present, and it is not yet possible to say when it can be. The question of compensation for Mr. Cronin will be considered when he lodges his claim with the Quartermaster-General.
