Vol. 3 No. 8

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. [ORAL ANSWERS.] - DESTROYED LEDGER ACCOUNTS.

asked the Minister for Home Affairs whether his attention has been called to the urgent importance of opening new ledger accounts in the office of the Accountant-General to replace those which were destroyed in the Four Courts; whether it has been represented to him that the permanent staff of the office is fully occupied already with the normal duties of the office; and whether he can see his way to provide for a temporary increase in the staff to enable the Accountant-General to open the new ledgers.

Mr. O'HIGGINS

I am aware of the urgent necessity for the reconstruction of these Accounts. The matter of providing a sufficient clerical staff is under consideration at the moment, and it is intended to utilise the services of the staffs of other offices on this work as soon as they can be made available.
