Vol. 3 No. 13

[ WRITTEN ANSWERS. ] - CLAIM ON BEHALF OF A CHILD.

asked the Minister for Defence if he has received an application for payment of compensation on behalf of the child of the late Volunteer James Lyons, of Ballyglass, Kilconnell, Co. Galway, who was a widower, and who joined the National Army on March 13th, 1922, and was killed in action in the attack on Headford Barracks, Co. Galway, on the 8th inst. If so, can he say whether the claim has received, or is receiving, favourable consideration.

A claim has been received for compensation in respect of the death of Volunteer Lyons. It cannot be finally considered until after the passing of an Army Pensions Act. In the meantime, however, an allowance of 10s. 6d. per week is being issued in repect of the child.
