Vol. 3 No. 13

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. [ORAL ANSWERS.] - IMPORTATION OF FORD TRUCKS.

asked the Minister for Defence whether he is aware that seven new Ford ton trucks were imported into Dublin for Government service on April 14th, and that, within the last month, about 80 of these trucks have been delivered at Gormanstown Depot, and whether he would be prepared to make arrangements to import the chassis only, and get the bodies built in Ireland, so as to give much-needed employment to skilled Irish workers.

On the grounds of urgency the trucks were imported complete. The desirability of having the bodies made in Ireland in the case of any future purchases is fully appreciated, and proposals to this end are under consideration.
