Vol. 3 No. 16

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. [ORAL ANSWERS.] - DEPORTED AND RELEASED.

asked the President whether Thomas McGlynn, one of the persons recently deported from England, but subsequently released, was arrested on information supplied by the Government of the Free State, and whether the Government is satisfied that McGlynn was innocent of any conspiracy, and that there was consequently no ground for his arrest.

The deportation of Mr. McGlynn was consequent on certain information in the possession of the Military Authorities of Saorstát Eireann. Mr. McGlynn signed the usual form of undertaking, and the Government having satisfied themselves that he could be relied upon to observe its terms decided that he could be released without prejudice to the safety of the State. The Government cannot undertake to pronounce upon his guilt or innocence.
