Vol. 3 No. 16

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. [ORAL ANSWERS.] - CLOSING OF DUNDALK DISTILLERY.

asked the Minister for Finance whether he will state the result of the representations made to the Ministry from various quarters relative to the closing down of the Dundalk Distillery; and whether he is now in a position to make such concessions in this particular case as will enable the distillery to re-open.

A deputation from the Dundalk Harbour Board was received by the Revenue Commissioners on the 19th ult., when the effect of the new fiscal arrangements on the Dundalk Distillery was examined and fully explained to the Harbour Board. I understand that, as a result of the discussion, the Harbour Board intended to send representatives to interview the proprietors of the Distillery, but I have no information up to the present as to the result of the interview. That is how the matter stands at the moment.

The whole question is a very technical one, and if the Deputy wishes to have detailed particulars I will arrange with the Revenue Commissioners to supply them.
