Vol. 3 No. 19

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. [ ORAL ANSWERS. ] - ARRESTS IN KILLALA.

asked the Minister for Defence if he will state the reasons for the arrest and detention in Galway Jail and the North Dublin Union of Mr. Loughney, Killala, and his daughter, together with Miss Gretta Murphy; whether any charge has been preferred against them; and whether he is aware that Mr. Loughney and his daughter are in a delicate state of health, and their continued detention would be likely to have an injurious effect upon them; and whether the Minister will have them released.

The persons mentioned were arrested on the ground of aiding and abetting Irregulars. Misses Loughney and Murphy are being released, and the case against Mr. Loughney is being carefully considered.
