Vol. 3 No. 20

COMMITTEE ON FINANCE. - [THE DAIL RESUMES.]

I beg to move to report progress, and that the Committee sit again to-morrow.

Would the President say, before we take the adjournment, what particular estimate he proposes to take in Committee of Finance to-morrow; whether we shall continue the programme we had before us to-day or whether we shall take the Army estimates to-morrow.

I undertook to take up to-morrow the Army Vote, if Deputy Johnson is ready, otherwise, we can leave it over and take other Votes.

We have had only three Estimates to-day, and we will take the Army to-morrow.

We have a long list of Votes to get through. I have been looking through that list and I think it would be better, if the President has no objection, that we should go through the list and come to the Army in its place afterwards.

I would like to get some indication when it is proposed to take the Army. The Minister for Defence asked me to take it to-day or to-morrow. He may be going away.

Is it proposed to sit next week.

Yes; and if it is likely that the Minister for Defence wants to get away we might start the discussion of the Army Estimates to-morrow, and have it adjourned until it was desired to take it up again.

If the Minister has made arrangements to take the Army Vote to-morrow I am quite agreeable that the discussion should be opened to-morrow.

Then the Army Vote will be the first Estimate for discussion to-morrow.

Will the President tell us when we are likely to have the publication of the Railway Agreement which was promised.

I am having it expedited, and Deputies will have it at the earliest opportunity.

May I ask the President when he will be prepared to give the list of Deputies receiving money from Government sources other than Cabinet Ministers.

I understand the return is being prepared. I will make a note of it and, perhaps, will be able to tell the Deputy to-morrow.

With regard to to-morrow I understood we were to take the Army Estimates and I take it that we will be able to finish all the Army Estimates before we proceed to any other. Deputy Johnson said we would start with the Army Estimate to-morrow.

I take it that if the Committee begins the discussion of the Army Estimate to-morrow, it may take any action it pleases with regard to the further consideration of them.
