Vol. 3 No. 22

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. [ ORAL ANSWERS. ] - COMMANDEERED MOTOR VAN—HEADFORT.

asked the Minister for Defence if he is aware that a motor bread-van, the property of Thos. Reynolds, the Bakery, Headfort, County Galway, was commandeered by Free State forces on 8th August last; that this van has not been returned, nor has any compensation been paid to Mr. Reynolds; and whether, in view of the fact that the seizure of this van has seriously crippled this man's business, the Minister will take steps to see that compensation is paid at the earliest possible date.

Mr. Reynolds' car was taken on the 8th August as stated, and has not been returned. It was seized on information received that it was being used by Mr. Reynolds' son for the purpose of driving Irregulars through the country. The case is under consideration.
