Vol. 3 No. 22

[ PRIVATE NOTICE QUESTIONS. ] - IMPRISONMENT OF J. DOWLING.

asked the President whether he is yet in a position to give any information to the Dáil as to the reasons for the continued detention of J. Dowling, a prisoner in the hands of the British Government; if he will publish the full text of any correspondence with the British Government in connection with the case; and whether he will state the position existing between the British and Irish Governments respecting this prisoner under the terms of the Indemnity (British Military) Act, 1923.

The negotiations for the release of Dowling have not been concluded so far as we are concerned, and the interest of the prisoner would not be served by complying with the Deputy's demands in the second part of the question.
