Vol. 3 No. 22

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. [ ORAL ANSWERS. ] - WRITS FOR ARREARS OF RENT.

asked the Minister for Home Áffairs whether he is aware that a situation likely to lead to a serious breach of the peace is arising in County Donegal, as a result of the threatened execution of writs for arrears of rent from tenants, and whether, in view of the fact that the tenants are admitted by the landlord to have paid regularly when they were financially able to do so, and have expressed their willingness to abide by any arrangements which may be made as to arrears in the forthcoming Land Bill, the Minister will agree to receive a deputation from these tenants on the subject.

I do not anticipate that any breach of the peace is likely to arise in connection with the writs referred to. As the matter is not one with which I can interfere, I cannot agree to receive a deputation on the subject. I have to refer the Deputy to an answer made by me on 31st ultimo to a similar question of Deputy Doyle.
