Vol. 3 No. 23

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. [ORAL ANSWERS.] - ARMY BREAD SUPPLY.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether, in inviting tenders for bread for the Army, it is the practice or the intention to stipulate that such bread should be manufactured from Irish milled flour, and whether steps are taken to ensure that in the fulfilment of such contracts this condition is observed.

It is to a large extent the practice, and it is the intention to secure, that bread supplied for the Army is manufactured from Irish milled flour. Means of checking the fulfilment of any such condition in contracts entered into for the Army are under consideration.
