CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. [ORAL ANSWERS.] - FOOD FOR INTERNED PRISONERS.

asked the Minister for Defence if he will state the amount of food allowed per day to prisoners in Internment Camps, and the kind of food supplied on the different days in each week.

The following is the normal ration scale for prisoners in Internment Camps:—

Bread

16 ozs.

Meat

12 ,,

Tea

½ oz.

Sugar

2½ ozs.

Milk

½ pint

Vegetables (fresh)

8 ozs.

Potatoes

12 ,,

Oatmeal or Rice

2 ,,

On Fridays—

Fish

8 ozs.

or

Eggs

Is there any fluctuation? It is in consequence of rumours that I raise this matter.

I am not aware of any fluctuations. I will ask the Minister for Defence. Do you mean by that, larger or small amounts?

Well, larger.

It might mean smaller or larger.
