Vol. 3 No. 34

[ PRIVATE NOTICE QUESTION. ] - THREATENED EVICTION AT MONASTEREVAN.

asked the Minister for Home Affairs whether he has anything to add to his reply to Question No. 11 of 12th April, relative to the threatened eviction of Miss Kelly, Whelan Street, Monasterevan, by a Mr. Coughlan of that town, whether the Minter is aware that Miss Kelly has been in occupation of the house for 58 years and that a strong feeling against this eviction prevails amongst all the people of the district.

I am informed that this case has been twice before the District Court at Monasterevan. If the landlord requires to secure possession of the premises and again brings the case before the Court it will be a matter for the Court to decide. I have to refer the Deputy to my reply to his former question, and to a letter addressed to him from my Department on 13th April last from which it should be clear to him that I cannot interfere with the functions of the Courts in the administration of the law.
