Vol. 3 No. 34

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. [ ORAL ANSWERS. ] - WAR COMPENSATION COURT.

asked the Minister for Finance whether he has any further statement to make regarding the negotiations with the British Government as to the settlement of claims for compensation arising from actions of the British Army and R.I.C. during the period 1920-21, which claims do not come under the Terms of Reference of the Shaw Commission, whether the British Government has yet intimated its decision in regard to the Government's request for the establishment of a branch of the War Compensation Committee in Ireland, and, if not, whether he will announce for the information of the persons who are expecting compensation whether there is any hope of an arrangement between the two Governments, by which their claims will be considered.

I have been in communication with the British Government on the subject, and I hope soon to be in a position to make an announcement regarding the setting up in Dublin of a branch of the War Compensation Court to deal with cases of the kind mentioned by the Deputy.
