Vol. 5 No. 14

WRITTEN ANSWER. - COMMUTING PENSIONS FOR NATIONAL LOAN.

TOMAS MAC EOIN

asked the Minister for Finance if he would be prepared to give favourable consideration to a suggestion that Civil Servants and others who have retired under Article 10 of the Treaty should, if they so desire, be allowed to commute their pensions in exchange for an appropriate amount of stock of the forthcoming national loan.

I am afraid that this suggestion would not help towards the purpose for which the loan is raised, inasmuch as no new cash would result from the scheme.
