Vol. 6 No. 27

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - MOYARTA (CO. CLARE) OLD AGE PENSION.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state why an old age pension is being withheld by his Department from Mr. Andrew Moloney, Moyarta, Carrigaholt, Co. Clare.

This pension was disallowed owing to insufficient evidence as to the age of applicant who, if he is 70 years of age, and can submit reasonably conclusive evidence to such effect, should make a fresh claim to the Pension Officer.

Mr. HOGAN

Is the Minister aware that Moloney has got certificates from the local parish priest taken from the parish register, showing the applicant's age to be over 70?

The only evidence that the claimant submitted was a certificate of baptism of the 30th April, 1853, of Tim Moloney, son of Tim O'Dwyer and Mary Moloney. He maintains that that certificate related to his baptism. He further stated he could not make out why he was called Tim in the parish register, his name being Andrew O'Dwyer-Moloney.

Mr. HOGAN

Is the Minister aware that the parish priest stated he is certain that the person to whom this entry refers is the person who is making the claim?

Is it Tim or Andy?

Mr. HOGAN

It is not a bit funny to the applicant.

The evidence submitted has not been sufficient to prove that Tim O'Dwyer-Moloney is Andrew Moloney.
