Vol. 6 No. 40

THE DUBLIN RECONSTRUCTION (EMERGENCY PROVISIONS) BILL, 1924. - FIRST STAGE.

I move for leave to introduce the Dublin Reconstruction (Emergency Provisions) Bill, 1924. This is a Bill to amend the law as to the erection of buildings and the making and improvement of streets in connection with the reconstruction of areas, streets, and buildings in the City of Dublin damaged or destroyed during certain disturbances in the said city, in the year 1922, and for other purposes incidental thereto. I think we all share Deputy Byrne's anxiety to have this Bill passed as soon as possible. The building season is upon us now, and if we allow things to slide or to drift, it may be impossible to get this necessary construction work carried out within a reasonable time. I hope that the Dáil will facilitate me in taking the first reading of this Bill to-day.

Question put and agreed to. Second Stage ordered for the 25th April.
