Vol. 7 No. 2

WRITTEN ANSWERS. - EX-INTERNEE'S INSURANCE CARDS.

asked the Minister for Lands and Agriculture if he is aware that Mr. R.B. MacAuley, 27 Nelson Street, Dublin, formerly employed in the College of Science, who was interned for thirteen months, and released in October, 1923, has been compulsorily unemployed, and deprived of unemployment benefits, owing to the Department of Agriculture withholding his unemployment insurance cards; whether pending the consideration of his case he will see that Mr. MacAuley's wages are paid for the time he was compulsorily unemployed and deprived of benefits.

Mr. HOGAN

Mr. MacAuley's unemployment card was not withheld by the Department of Agriculture. He was arrested while actually on duty, and when the period for which the card was available expired, he was still in internment. The stamp card was subsequently, in accordance with the usual procedure, handed to the Ministry of Industry and Commerce (Unemployment Section). No application in respect of the card was at any time made to the College of Science.
