Vol. 7 No. 2

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - HEALTH INSURANCE IN CO. KILDARE.

asked the Minister for Finance if he is aware of the great hardship inflicted on insured sick persons in the Carbury district, Co. Kildare, under the National Health Insurance Act in being deprived of their benefit owing to a dispute between the doctors and the National Health Insurance Authorities, and whether he will make temporary arrangements for the immediate payment of benefits under the Act.

I have made inquiries into this matter, and find that the dispensary doctor of the Carbury District, Co. Kildare, resigned his position as certifier under the National Health Insurance Acts as from March 31st, 1924. There being no other doctor in the immediate vicinity, some difficulty was experienced by insured persons in obtaining medical certificates of incapacity for work. The doctor in question has now withdrawn his resignation and asked to be restored to the panel of certifiers. A new agreement has been sent to him for signature, and when signed his name will be restored to the panel.
