Vol. 7 No. 2

WRITTEN ANSWERS. - CO. CLARE ESTATE.

asked the Minister for Lands and Agriculture if he is in a position to state whether Mr. Timothy Crowe, 25 Sarsfield Street, Limerick, furnished the particulars required by the Land Act of 1923 to the Land Commission in respect of his estate at Parteen, Co. Clare. If not, if he will state how do the tenants on that estate stand in respect of that Act; and what steps he proposes to take in the matter, and when such steps may be taken.

Mr. HOGAN

Particulars were furnished by the owner to the Land Commission for the purposes of the collection of compounded arrears of rent in respect of a holding situate at Parteen, County Limerick, on the estate mentioned. However, as it appeared that the tenant held under a lease for a term of years of which more than sixty were unexpired at the date of the passing of the Land Act, 1923, the holding did not come within the definition of "tenanted land" under Section 73 (2) of the Act, and, consequently, the tenant was not entitled to the reduction given under Sections 19 and 20 of the Act to tenants of holdings to which the Act applies. Under Section 38 of the Act an application may be made on the prescribed form to the Land Commission for the purpose of redeeming the rent payable under the lease.
