Vol. 7 No. 2

WRITTEN ANSWERS. - DEPENDENT'S ALLOWANCE.

asked the Minister for Defence if he is aware that Mrs. Sarah Coogan, 70 Married Quarters, K Line, Curragh Camp, has not received any dependent's allowance in respect of her son, John Coogan, Army No. R. 451, who attested 12th July, 1922, and was discharged 27th July, 1923, and whether he will ask for further inquiries for verification of earnings and contributions to the home from the manager of the Canteen Board, where Coogan was employed prior to enlistment, with a view to payment of arrears.

It has been ascertained from the Manager of the Navy, Army and Air Force Institutes, Belfast, that John Coogan was employed by that body from the 7th July, 1919, to the 12th November, 1921. In the absence of any evidence of her son's earnings from the 12th November up to the date of attestation the decision to reject Mrs. Coogan's claim for dependent's allowance must be maintained.
