Vol. 7 No. 20

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. [ORAL ANSWERS.] - DISUSED WORKHOUSE LAND AT SCARIFF.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state whether the land attached to the disused workhouse at Scariff has been applied for by workers in the district; if he has considered favourably the application, and if, in consideration of the destitution in that district, he will have the land apportioned as early as possible.

The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. On 28th March last a general order was made empowering county councils to make short lettings of workhouse buildings and lands on certain conditions. The applicants should now approach the county council on the matter.

Have county councils in An Saorstát been circularised on that matter—are the county councils aware of that?

I could not answer that question off-hand.
