Vol. 7 No. 24

CEISTEANNA.—QUESTIONS. [ORAL ANSWERS.] - DRIMOLEAGUE ARMY ACCOUNT.

asked the Minister for Defence whether payment in respect of an Army Account due to Mr. J.C. Gunn, Drimoleague, Co. Cork, will now be made.

A claim made by Mr. Gunn in respect of the occupation of and damage to the Commercial Hotel, Drimoleague, by troops was settled by the payment of £60 by the Office of Public Works in February last.

Accounts amounting to £1 17s. 0d. have been received from Mr. Gunn in respect of the billeting of troops during November, 1922, and March, 1923. These accounts were reduced to £1 11s. 0d. on account of charges in excess of authorised rates. A cheque for £1 2s. 0d. was issued to Mr. Gunn on the 16th February last and the balance of 9s. still due will be paid forthwith.

Arising out of the Minister's answer, I would like to point out that I am informed that a sum of £20 is still due to Mr. Gunn for billeting and I understand he has refused to take this cheque for 22s.
