Vol. 7 No. 26

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - BALLINA DISPENSARY CARETAKER'S CLAIM.

TOMAS MAC EOIN

asked the Minister for Finance whether he is aware that the caretaker of Ballina Dispensary, Co. Mayo, lodged a claim with the Military Authorities for £50 compensation for loss of half an acre of accommodation land, attached to the Dispensary, commandeered by the Military; whether the land in question was inspected by an Army Captain detailed for such work; whether the Inspector reported in favour of the claim being allowed, and, if so, if payment of the amount was sanctioned, and when it will be made.

A claim has been received from the Ministry of Defence in respect of loss sustained by Mr. P.J. O'Reilly, the caretaker of the Ballina Dispensary, arising out of the military occupation of a plot of ground at the Workhouse, Ballina.

The necessary military investigation regarding the claim was deferred, pending receipt of a claim from the Rural District Council in respect of the military occupation of the Workhouse itself. This claim has now come to hand and the investigation of both will be proceeded with at once.
