Vol. 7 No. 28

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. [ORAL ANSWERS.] - LAUSANNE TREATY.—PUBLICATION OF DOCUMENTS.

asked the Minister for External Affairs if his attention has been drawn to the fact that the Canadian Government has published its correspondence with the British Government respecting the Lausanne Treaty and if he will publish and circulate to Deputies any correspondence between the Executive Council and the British Government respecting the same Treaty.

I am aware that owing to apparently conflicting statements made by the British and Canadian Governments relative to this matter, it was agreed that the correspondence between them should be published. The same circumstances do not obtain with regard to the Irish Free State, and it is not proposed to publish the correspondence between this Government and the British Government.

Does the Minister consider that the example of Canada is only to be praised when it is embodied in a Constitution?

Does the Minister propose to make any statement in regard to this question?

Yes, this matter will come before the Dáil.
