Vol. 8 No. 1

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - REDUCTION OF OLD AGE PENSION.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state what was the report of his Inspector in connection with the reduction of the old age pension granted to Mrs. Mary Downes, Bella, Carrigaholt, Co. Clare and whether the action of his Department was based on that report, or upon what information was the decision based.

In this case, in which the Clare Pension Committee proposed to continue the pension of 10s. a week. I deputed an Inspector to report on means. The report, on which I based my decision, contained a detailed summary of the stock and crops on the farm assigned under marriage agreement by the claimant to her son.

Mr. HOGAN

Would I be incorrect in saying that the Inspector suggested reduction of the pension to 6s., and not the taking away of the pension altogether?

I am not aware of that fact.
