Vol. 8 No. 5

CEISTEANNA.—QUESTIONS. [ORAL ANSWERS.] - GRANEY CROSS AMBUSH.

EAMON O DUBHGHAILL

asked the Minister for Defence if he has any information regarding the claim of Mrs. Mary Hunt, Ballyconnell, Coolkenno, in respect of her son, Volunteer James Hunt, who was killed in the Graney Cross ambush on October 28th, 1922; if he will state whether it is proposed to pay Mrs. Hunt a weekly allowance, and, if not, what amount of compensation it is intended to make.

An allowance of 7s. per week was issued to Mrs. Hunt up to the 8th March last. It will not be continued, but a gratuity of £25 in final settlement of the claim has been awarded to her. Payment of that amount will be made on the return of a life certificate which has been sent to her for completion.
