Vol. 8 No. 7

WRITTEN ANSWERS. - COMPENSATION CLAIM (CO. MAYO).

asked the Minister for Finance whether he received a claim from Miss Mary Jane Trench, of Clare Road, Ballyhaunis, Co. Mayo, for compensation for loss of tolls and customs by reason of the stoppage of fairs and markets in Ballyhaunis, by orders of the British Forces, during the period October, 1920, to July, 1921, and, if so, whether payment of the claim has yet been made, or if not, whether he will see that a settlement of the claim is expedited.

A claim on behalf of the person named by the Deputy for compensation for the damage referred to has been ruled upon by the Compensation (Ireland) Commission as outside the scope of their terms of reference. No question of payment therefore arises at present.
