I would like to ask the President now before the Dáil proceeds with the Orders of the Day, when he intends to make a statement as to the release of the remaining prisoners. This matter has been hanging fire for a long time, although a statement was promised a fortnight ago. How long are we to wait for a statement? Is it to be made on the eve of the closing of the Dáil; or is it to be made at all, or is the situation to be such that there will be no necessity for making any statement.
RELEASE OF PRISONERS.
I undertook to make an announcement before the Recess, but that date seems to be disappearing. I should say that perhaps I will be able to make a statement early next week.
