Vol. 8 No. 14

FINANCE BILL, 1924—FROM THE SEANAD.

If there is any objection to take the Finance Bill now, I would ask that it should be taken immediately on the resumption following the adjournment for tea. Unless we take it to-day, we cannot deal with the recommendations that have been made by the Seanad. The recommendations are only two in number. I would propose to accept one—the second one. As regards the first, I think that was put to a vote here, and I would not be prepared to recommend the adoption of that. As regards the second, it is for administrative convenience that the date "15th July" is deleted, and the words "1st September" inserted. If there is any objection to take the Bill now, I will take it on the resumption.

I suggest that it should be taken after the adjournment, so that we can see the effect of the recommendations. I take it that it will be quite in order for any Deputy to move that No. 1 be approved of?

I will answer that question after the adjournment.

Consideration of Finance Bill postponed till later in the day.
