Vol. 8 No. 14

WRITTEN ANSWERS. - SWINFORD WOMAN'S CLAIM.

asked the Minister for Finance if a claim for compensation has been received by him from Mrs. Mary Brennan, Kinaffe, Swinford, on account of personal injuries sustained during an ambush laid for the National Troops on the public road between Kiltimagh and Lisduff; whether an offer of £10 has been made as payment of the claim, and, in view of the fact that this amount would not even cover the doctor's fees, whether he will reconsider the claim with a view to increasing the amount allowed.

The application referred to by the Deputy was received and fully investigated by the Compensation (Personal Injuries) Committee, who carefully considered all the circumstances of the case which were put before them. They are of opinion that the grant which they recommended is sufficient to cover the out of pocket expenses incurred by the applicant as a result of the injury. On reviewing the circumstances, I see no reason why the case should be reconsidered.
