Vol. 8 No. 14

WRITTEN ANSWERS. - SCHOOL ACCOMMODATION (BLACKWATER).

asked the Minister for Education if he is aware that Direendaragh N.S., Blackwater, Kenmare, was burned down on the 19th May last; if since that date teaching has been carried on in an open shed, and if, in view of the great inconvenience and danger to health of the children, whether any steps are being taken to replace the burned down school.

The schools referred to were burned down on the 19th May. A report has been received from the inspector with reference to the matter and further inquiries are being made. Temporary accommodation has been provided for the children, but, as this accommodation cannot be regarded as suitable, the question of arranging for suitable temporary premises pending the restoration of the schoolhouse is receiving attention.

The question of the building of a new school to replace the school destroyed is also receiving attention.
