Vol. 8 No. 19

CEISTEANNA.—QUESTIONS. [ORAL ANSWERS.] - WAR COMPENSATION COURT.

asked the President whether he will state what progress, if any, has been made towards setting up the War Compensation Court, since the statement of the Minister for Finance on November 22nd, 1923, that negotiations on this subject had then reached an advanced stage.

Negotiations on this subject have been unduly protracted owing to the fact that the question has been complicated by a number of other issues arising directly and indirectly out of the proposed Terms of Reference. The matter has, however, occupied the constant attention of the Government, and the Minister for Justice is proceeding to-night to London to endeavour to reach an agreement on outstanding points, so that some equitable settlement of their claims may be assured to Irish claimants.
