Vol. 8 No. 19

WRITTEN ANSWERS. - VISIT OF MR. JOHN DEVOY.

asked the President if he has received any notification, or is aware, of the intended arrival on a visit from the United States of Mr. John Devoy, on Saturday next, 26th July, and whether in view of Mr. Devoy's great and special services in the cause of our country's independence, official cognisance will be taken of his visit.

I have received notification of Mr. Devoy's visit, and have sent him a message of welcome by wireless. I have also invited him to be the guest of the State during his stay. I feel that this is the least tribute which we could pay to Mr. Devoy, whose life has been spent in the country's service.
