Vol. 8 No. 19

CEISTEANNA.—QUESTIONS. [ORAL ANSWERS.] - RE-OPENING COMPENSATION CLAIM.

SEAN O LAIDHIN

asked the Minister for Defence if he is aware that a gratuity of £15 has been awarded to John Deehan, Main Street, Moate, in respect of his son, Patrick, who was shot at Fry Place Barracks, Athlone, on July 30th, 1922; whether, in view of the fact that the deceased Volunteer was but fourteen and a half years old, he will have the case re-opened with a view to increasing the award.

The award of gratuity made to Mr. Deehan is being reconsidered. I will communicate the result to the Deputy in due course.
