Vol. 8 No. 19

CEISTEANNA.—QUESTIONS. [ORAL ANSWERS.] - ATHLONE OLD AGE PENSION CLAIM.

SEÁN O LAIDHIN

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he is aware that an old age pension, which was granted by the Athlone Sub-Committee in June, 1924, to John Early, The Pigeons, Athlone, has been rejected by the Pensions Officer; whether, as the applicant is over seventy years of age, and is in very poor circumstances, he will have the case re-investigated with a view to having pension granted.

A claim by a Mr. John Early, Tubberclair, Glass, Athlone, was disallowed on appeal on 9th August, 1923, on the ground of means, and the case has not come before me since. I have no information regarding a more recent claim, as mentioned by the Deputy.

I have no functions in the matter unless a claim comes before me on appeal. If it does I will give full consideration to all the facts, and make such inquiries as may seem called for.
