Vol. 8 No. 21

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. [ORAL ANSWERS.] - DEPENDENT'S ALLOWANCE CLAIM.

Mr. MURPHY (for Domhnall O Muirgheasa)

asked the Minister for Defence if he will state why dependent's allowance has been refused to Mrs. Bridget Woods, Jamestown, Mullinahone, Co. Tipperary, in respect of her son, James Woods, who joined the National Army on April 17th, 1922, and who served until February 5th, 1924.

Mrs. Woods' claim was disallowed after due investigation on the ground that the nett amount normally contributed by her son to his home for a reasonable period prior to his enlistment, was less than the minimum required by the regulations, 12s. per week, before an allowance might be issued. Mrs. Woods was notified to this effect on 27th March last.
