Vol. 8 No. 22

CEISTEANNA.—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - ACTIONS OF GARDA SIOCHANA.

asked the Minister for Justice if it is competent for the Gárda Síochána to order civilians off the streets at night, as has been done at Massytown, Macroom, during the past week.

On the occasion referred to the Gárda Síochána ordered the members of an unlawful assembly to disperse. It was quite competent for them so to act.

Will the Minister say if he considers that one particular man standing at his own door would constitute an unlawful assembly, and does he consider that it is the duty of the Gárda Síochána to administer, so far as they can, the law evenly between all parties, and if I give him specific instances of cases where the law was not administered evenly but was favourable to the friends of the Inspector of the Gárda, would he promise to investigate the matter?

Certainly.
