Vol. 8 No. 22

CEISTEANNA.—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - DISMISSAL OF WEXFORD FORESTERS.

asked the Minister for Lands and Agriculture if he will state why two of the six trained Foresters in County Wexford have been dismissed from the Forestry Station at Camolin; and whether it is his intention to curtail the operations of the Forestry Department in County Wexford.

In reply to the first part of the question, no trained forester has been dismissed from Camolin; only one trained forester is employed there, but two labourers have recently been discharged, as the work now to be done can be carried out by the labour staff retained there, viz., four labourers. Deputy Corish has already made representations in regard to this particular question, and I am dealing with it.

As regards the second part of the question, there is no intention of curtailing forestry operations in County Wexford.
