Vol. 8 No. 22

CEISTEANNA.—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - SOUTH CORK COUNTY HOME.

SEAN O DUINNIN

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health whether he has received copies of reports submitted to the South Cork County Board of Public Assistance by their storekeeper; whether these reports have yet been considered by his Department, and if he is aware that the delay in issuing instructions as to the proper method of dealing with tenders for contracts and samples in connection therewith, is causing considerable difficulty in the efficient management of the institutions connected with the South Cork County Home, and whether he will take steps to remedy the complaint.

I have received copies of the reports referred to. They are unduly acrimonious. It is not clear that any substantial difficulties have arisen which could fairly be attributed to the causes stated. A letter of instructions covering most of the matters referred to was issued on the 3rd July. The subject does not appear to have been dealt with in the spirit of mutual co-operation which is essential. So far as the Department is concerned, I will spare no effort to inquire into and to remedy any justifiable complaints.
