Vol. 9 No. 2

WRITTEN ANSWERS. - INJURED BY MILITARY LORRY.

SEAN O LAIDHIN

asked the Minister for Defence whether he is aware that a claim for compensation in respect of injuries sustained by his daughter by a military lorry on March 31st, 1924, in the town of Longford, was lodged on April 1st, 1924, by Michael Dillon, Aughnacliffe, Longford; that he was summoned to appear at an inquiry in Longford on July 8th, 1924, and that, so far, he has not been notified of the result of the inquiry, and whether payment of this claim will be expedited.

The Court of Enquiry found that the circumstances under which the military motor car knocked down Miss Dillon was purely accidental, and that the occurrence was unavoidable so far as the driver was concerned. A claim for compensation has not been received in the Department of Defence. It would not, however, be practicable under the circumstances of the case to entertain one.
