Vol. 9 No. 3

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - CLAIM FOR COMMANDEERED MOTOR CAR.

asked the Minister for Defence whether his attention has been called to an answer given by him on July, 22nd, 1924, in which he stated that a claim for compensation for commandeering a motor car, had been received from Mr. C.J. Gillen, Temple Street, Sligo, and would be settled as quickly as possible, and whether he is aware that up to the 15th October, 1924, Mr. Gillen has neither received the money, nor any reply from the Claims Officer, and whether he will investigate the causes of the delay in this case.

It is regretted that owing to changes in the Army unexpected difficulty was met in getting verification of Mr. Gillen's claim. As a result he was requested on the 13th instant to make a statutory declaration in the matter. On receipt of the declaration the claim was at once assessed and payment of £24 15s. in full settlement was made yesterday.
