Vol. 9 No. 4

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - NATIONAL TEACHERS' PENSIONS.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the number of national teachers who gave notice in the prescribed manner of their desire that the Teachers' Pension Rules of 1914 should not apply to them and who have not since revoked this notice, and whether the Department will give these teachers a further opportunity of coming under the 1914 Pension Scheme.

The number of National School Teachers now serving in the Saorstát who gave notice of their desire that the Teachers' Pension Rules of 1914 should not apply to them, and who have not since revoked such notice, is 68. In view of the fact that these teachers were afforded opportunities of electing to come under the rules of 1914 on three occasions, viz., in 1914, in 1918, and again in 1921, I am not prepared to afford them facilities for a further election in the matter.
