Vol. 9 No. 7

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - KILMALLOCK HOTEL CLAIM.

asked the Minister for Defence whether an account amounting to £117 12s. 11d. due to Clery's Commercial and Family Hotel, Kilmallock, for goods supplied to troops, was first received by his Department some months ago; whether he is aware that the account was furnished on three occasions without acknowledgment, and if the matter will be investigated and the account paid without delay.

A statement of account showing an outstanding balance of £117 12s. 11d. in respect of billeting was received from Mr. Clery some months ago. Details had then to be procured and certification obtained. Mr. Clery was communicated with in this connection on the 22nd August and 27th September. There is no trace of the receipt of the account mentioned on three occasions without acknowledgment.

The account included amounts which had been disallowed on previous accounts as being made up of charges in excess of authorised rates. The remainder, amounting to £80 13s. 10d., has been assessed on the rates referred to at £60 17s. 0d., and a cheque for this sum was issued yesterday.
