Vol. 9 No. 8

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - SALE OF RIDLEY ESTATE, TULLAMORE.

asked the Minister for Lands and Agriculture if an agreement for purchase was signed by the tenants on the Ridley Estate, near Tullamore, under the 1903 Land Act, and, if so, if he will state why this agreement has not been enforced, and if steps will be taken by him to expedite this sale.

The Land Commission cannot identify any Ridley Estate pending for sale under the provisions of the Irish Land Act, 1903. Possibly the Deputy may be referring to an estate in Offaly, the estate of the Trustees of Ridley. I think the owners offered to sell to the Land Commission in 1907. The Land Commission named a figure and then the owners withdrew from the sale. The estate has never been heard of since and no agreement for purchase, or anything like that, has been sent in by the tenants, if that is the estate that the Deputy is referring to.

I think it is, but I am not sure.
