Vol. 9 No. 8

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - CHAIRMANSHIP OF CIVIL SERVICE (COMPENSATION) COMMITTEE.

TOMAS MAC EOIN

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state what is the reason for the delay in appointing a successor to Mr. Justice Wylie as Chairman of the Civil Service (Compensation) Committee, and when it is proposed to appoint a new chairman so as to enable the Committee to resume its work.

The arrangements to be made in future for the work until recently performed by the Committee of which Judge Wylie was chairman, are under consideration. The completion of the arrangements has been delayed in consequence of declaration given by the High Court, since the date when the Committee last met, on certain questions affecting awards made by the Committee, and an application to the Supreme Court against these declarations has been made on behalf of the Government. It is hoped that arrangements for disposing of the claims still to be dealt with can be completed shortly.
