Vol. 9 No. 9

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - REPAIRS ON HUTMENT LANDS.

SEAN O DUINNIN

asked the Minister for Defence whether the fences levelled down in the Hutment Lands taken by the British Government, and now in the possession of the Saorstát Government, will be built up and all other impediments and obstructions removed, damages repaired, and lands given back to the owners in as good condition as when they were originally taken from them; whether this work could be carried out immediately as it would give much-needed employment in many districts.

The matter of reinstatement of the lands referred to forms part of the general question of the administration of the lands and buildings taken over, in respect of which final conclusions have not yet been arrived at. It might be said, however, that definite information on the subject of reinstatement of the hutment lands will be available soon.
