Vol. 9 No. 12

CEISTEANNA.—QUESTIONS. [ORAL ANSWERS.] - CLAIM FOR PERSONAL INJURIES AND DESTRUCTION.

DOMHNALL O MUIRGHEASA

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state why compensation for personal injuries and destruction which was awarded in the Courts in April, 1923, to Mr. Cornelius Ryan, The Heath, Thurles, has not been paid, and if, in view of the fact that this man is hard pressed by creditors, he will have payment made without delay.

The application of the person named by the Deputy for compensation in respect of personal injuries has been considered by the Compensation (Personal Injuries) Committee, who have recommended an ex gratia payment of £84. A Paying Order for this amount will shortly be issued.

The damage to property for which Mr. Ryan claims compensation was committed by British forces, and the case is one of a number which at present form the subject of negotiations with the British Government.

Would the Minister say whether any compensation for personal injuries will be paid in respect of that particular time — after the Truce?

I have told you a payment has been made in respect of personal injuries.
