Vol. 9 No. 14

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - WOUND OR SERVICE PENSION CLAIM.

asked the Minister for Defence whether he is aware that Volunteer Michael Anderson, of Suncroft, Co. Kildare, Army No. 13592, B. Coy. 48th Battalion, who attested on May 20th, 1922, and who was discharged on April 25th, 1924, as medically unfit through shot wounds received at Rathangan, and Barberville House, Colbinstown, is unable to work, and has not been awarded a wound or service pension; further, that Mr. Anderson has a good record as an Irish Volunteer, as can be verified by ex-Lieutenant Edward McCormack, 20th Infantry Battalion, and whether he will expedite consideration of the case, as the man is suffering much hardship.

Mr. Anderson's claim to pension or gratuity under the provisions of the Army Pensions Act, 1923, has been duly considered and the award of a gratuity has been approved. Payment of this amount will be effected on the return of a form of life certificate which was sent to Mr. Anderson on the 15th instant for completion.

His claim under the Military Service Pensions Act, 1924, is under investigation and will be disposed of as soon as possible.
